This year’s World Whisky Day is on Saturday, 21 May 2016 and Tokyo Bird can’t wait to celebrate with you and a dram or two.

If you joined us for World Whisky Day last year, you might remember we were packed out and all had an absolute ball talking whiskies all night. But as we sold out last year, in 2016 we’re extending the World Whisky Day festivities for the whole week leading up to the big day.

Celebrated annually and globally, World Whisky Day invites everyone to try a dram and celebrate whisky (or whiskey) of all types. It’s all about making whisky fun, enjoyable and inclusive – meaning whisky from anywhere in the world, enjoyed in whichever manner it is preferred (neat, ice, water, mixer or cocktails). Whether you’re a whisky novice or a connoisseur, we’ve got something for you for #WWD2016!

WORLD WHISKY COCKTAILS – all week from MONDAY, 16 MAY
Start on Monday (why not?) with Yoshi’s world whisky cocktails. Available all week, he’s concocted five whisky cocktails – each featuring a dram from Japan, Scotland, Australia, Ireland or the US – to celebrate the world of whisky / whiskey / bourbon.

JAPANESE WHISKY DINNER – TUESDAY 17 MAY
Tokyo Bird is hosting an exclusive dinner in collaboration with Melbourne’s Adam Liston (ex chef / owner of Northern Light Yakitori Bar). Food and whisky lovers can indulge together with five premium Japanese whiskies matched with five courses of modern Japanese cuisine in celebration of Japan’s ‘water of life’. Japanese whiskies to include:

• Nikka Whisky Taketsuru Pure Malt 12 year old
• Nikka Whisky Yoichi single malt
• Ichiro’s Malt Mizunara Wood Reserve pure malt
• Suntory Whisky Hibiki 17 year old blended malt
• Suntory Whisky Yamazaki Limited Edition 2015 single malt

We’re kicking off from 1pm on World Whisky Day with whisky tasting flights on ALL DAY LONG! You’ll have a choice of four whisky flights covering world or Japanese whiskies to taste your way through the glorious world of whiskies!
