13 May 8 weeks later… AND announcing don. by Tokyo Bird

Hi. How are you going?

It’s been almost eight weeks since we closed for the (first?) COVID-shutdown of 2020. We’ve been:

• Doing the takeaway thang at our sister venue Osaka Trading Co. at Tramsheds
• Chilling out with our loved ones at home / on farms / via CoD / finishing Netflix
• Cleaning, cleaning, cleaning
• Doing the occasional booze delivery
• Missing you

This week the news out from the NSW Government is that cafes and restaurants can open this coming Friday to accommodate 10 sit-in patrons. It doesn’t mention anything about bars or small bars as yet, but we’re pretty hopeful. We also have full access to our neighbouring cafe so we’re excited to launch a new concept there – starting with takeaway lunch & dinner this Thursday onwards (and aiming for all-day dine-in and takeaway in the near future).

Short for donburi, don. by Tokyo Bird will be offering donburi rice bowls, ramen, sando, coffee by The Little Marionette and cocktails by Tokyo Bird.

Adjoining Tokyo Bird at 226 Commonwealth Street, Surry Hills, we’re looking forward to creating an all-day offering in the near-future: from coffee and breakfast items; to lunch, late lunch and 3pm snack attacks; all the way through to dinner and dessert!

For now, it’s all about the donburi rice bowls, signature katsu sando, ramen by sister venue Osaka Trading Co., Japanese snacks and ingredients, and of course, cocktails by Tokyo Bird. We’ll do our best with seating limited to 10 patrons for now but everything will be available for takeaway and local delivery.
