This year World Whisky Day will be celebrated on Saturday 18 May. It’s hard to believe we’re having our fifth annual day of celebratory whisky drinking at Tokyo Bird this World Whisky Day (!) and our very first at Banchō in Chinatown.

World Whisky Day invites everyone to try a dram and celebrate all types of whisky/whiskey. It’s about making whisky fun and enjoyable; and not about being exclusive or prescriptive. You can drink it however you enjoy it (ice, water, cocktail, mixer – whatever works for you).

TOKYO BIRD – SURRY HILLS

• WORLD WHISKY COCKTAILS: Monday 13 – Saturday 18 May

For the whole week leading up to World Whisky Day, enjoy a world of whisky in cocktail form. Explore the world of cocktails and taste original creations featuring Japanese, Scotch, American, Australian and Irish whiskies.

Grab a passport and “travel” to all 10 cocktail “destinations” at both Tokyo Bird & Banchō during the week to score yourself a limited edition Tokyo Bird t-shirt! Details HERE with cocktail lists to be revealed soon (bookings welcome but not essential)

• WORLD WHISKY DAY: Saturday 18 May

Get your tickets for the biggest whisky day of the year! Tokyo Bird will be open from 1pm for whisky tastings ALL DAY LONG! Choose from seven whisky tasting flights ranging from entry level to baller level, that will take you from Scotland to Japan and the world!

OSAKA TRADING CO. – TRAMSHEDS, FOREST LODGE

• WORLD WHISKY DINNER: Wednesday 22 May, 6pm or 8.30pm sittings

This year’s World Whisky Dinner will feature five world whiskies paired with our modern Japanese fare at Osaka Trading Co. Explore whiskies from Japan, Scotland, Ireland, Australia and Taiwan, matched with a feast of refined modern Japanese flavours.

• WORLD WHISKY TASTING FLIGHT: Thursday 16 May – Sunday 19 May

If you need your ramen or karaage fix, why not enjoy the best of both worlds with lunch or dinner AND a whisky tasting flight. In the days leading up to World Whisky Day, Osaka Trading Co. will be offering a world whisky tasting flight from noon till close – book ahead here or just walk in and enjoy whiskies from Japan, Scotland, Australia and Ireland with a snack on the side.

• WHISKY & CHEESE (OR CHOCOLATE) MATCHING: Saturday 18 May

Try something different this World Whisky Day with our specially-curated whisky matching plates at Banchō: go savoury with Australian cheeses or go sweet with a selection of chocolates, served with accompaniments and paired whiskies with tasting notes. Or choose your own cheese or chocolate adventure with our pairing menu, available from 4pm on World Whisky Day – bookings recommended (online here).
